Product: SunSuite Sunroom by Owens Corning

Comfort Line Ltd
Jeffrey V Miller

An industry-first pre-fabricated sunroom whose structural members and fenestration products are manufactured entirely from pultruded fiberglass profiles. The product was designed, developed and is manufactured by Comfort Line Ltd., and marketed by Owens Corning.
An industry has developed in the US that produces pre-fabricated sunrooms marketed as room additions to existing dwellings. Historically, sunrooms have been produced using either pre-cut aluminum and PVC profiles, or jobsite fabricated from wood structural components. SunSuite is the latest entree combining the best features provided by competing materials.

Product: Phoenix™ Cooling Tower

Creative Pultrusions, Inc.
Dustin Troutman

The Phoenix™ Building System (Tower/Frame Structure and Components for the Same US Patent #7,275,734 B2/October 2, 2007), is a unique structural system manufactured out of custom pultruded profiles. The system’s primary purpose is for field erected cooling towers, which are used extensively for commercial cooling operations. Examples include cooling operations for airport HVAC, power generation, steel mills, chemical plants, hotels, office buildings, hospitals and universities. The proprietary system features a patented connection system that was developed using the state of the art in pultrusion manufacturing and fiberglass reinforced polymer structural engineering technology. The connection eliminates the traditional issues associated with connecting pultruded structural systems. The seven custom profiles, forming the structural system, are manufactured with a proprietary pultrusion injection process in polyester and polyurethane resin.

Product: SuperLoc™ Composite Sheet Pile System

Creative Pultrusions, Inc.
Dustin Troutman

SuperLoc™ Composite Sheet Pile System (Wale & Retaining Wall System US Patent #6,893,191 B2/May 17, 2005), is manufactured by the pultrusion process and is designed to provide a solution for deteriorated waterfront structures subjected to harsh marine operating environments. Unlike traditional materials, SuperLoc™ will not corrode, decay, or spall, thereby reducing maintenance costs and future replacements. The newest addition to the product line, which was developed for the commercial bulkhead market, is the SuperLoc™ 1610 SUPURTUF ™ Polyurethane sheet pile. The sheet pile is 24" (610 mm) wide by 10" (254 mm) in depth. It is manufactured via die injection pultrusion in a polyurethane matrix, which allows for superior impact strength and stiffness.

Product: DELOS – Deep ocean Environmental Long term Observatory System

Exel Composites UK
John Hartley

DELOS – Deep ocean Environmental Long term Observatory System will be a ‘World’s 1st for composites’.
Comprising of two Ocean floor platforms each measuring 8m x 8m x 4.5m tall. Situated at a depth of 1400m, they will be serviced periodically by remotely operated vehicles, which will monitor the deep ocean environment within the vicinity of BP operations in Angola.
The deep ocean environment into which BP operations are gradually extending are poorly understood with research surveys regularly discovering new habitats and communities of animals previously unknown to science.
The two platforms will be delivered to Ocean Labs in Aberdeen where they will be fitted with the underwater data collection systems from there they will be transported to the BP operations in Angola, with monitoring commencing early 2008.

Product: Glide Path Tower

Exel Oyj
Mr. Jaakko Martikainen

Glide path antenna towers are a part of instrument landing system (ILS) used in aerodromes. The rigidity requirement of these towers is high in order to ensure the system to work properly. At present, these towers are typically non-frangible steel structures

Exel GP-tower follows the same lattice structure concept as EXEL Approach Masts, but is made to cope with the demanding requirements of extremely high rigidity and frangibility. The tower is made of 5 m tall sections, with total height of 10 or 15 metres

Product: Vello® Umbilical Rod

Vello Nordic AS
Per Arne Edvardsen

Vello® Umbilical Rod o Deep water technology for the future. Innovation at the very best.

The Vello® Umbilical Rod has been developed for use in steel tube umbilicals for deep water oil and gas production. The rod was used in Aker Kvaerner`s award winning carbon fibre reinforced umbilicals installed in depths down to 2,800 meters in the Mississippi Canyon MC-920 Independence Hub project and the Merganser project in the Gulf of Mexico. A total amount of 60 tonnes carbon fibre has been utilized for umbilical reinforcement in these projects.

The Vello® Umbilical Rod is used as strengthening member for deep water applications. It's high stiffness combined with low weight makes it superior compared to traditional steel armouring for deep waters.

Product: Air Wash System

Ercon Composites
Mukesh Maheshwari

ERCON COMPOSITES developed Air-Wash System for Television Tubes manufacturing unit in India. The original system that came with the Japanese machinery had a problem of choking and hence very little flow of air would then go for cooling of the glass shells. This was hampering the production, as also damage in tubes was higher as the system was not very effective.
The consultant of the company approached Ercon and in co-ordination with the consultant Ercon developed a Special complete Pultruded FRP Air Wash System for the company. This system not only cleaned the air but also dropped considerably the temperature of the air for cooling the glass shell thereby increasing the production nearly 30% as the defectives reduced and faster cooling helped in increased production. The company placed more orders for similar systems with ERCON.
Construction details:
The structural Frame work was made of Pultruded GRP square Pipes, Mist eliminators and special fine non choking filters were also fixed in Pultruded Frame of Channel, covering sheets were also Pultruded. The overall dimension of the air wash system was 7mx2.5mx3m.

Product: GRP Wall for building for Salt Works

Ercon Composites
Mukesh Maheshwari

ERCON COMPOSITES helped a Salt Works in Tuticorin, Tamilnadu (South India), by building the whole wall of their factory building by using ERCON’s Structural Beams and channel sections and corrugated GRP sheets for preventing corrosion from the extremely corrosive sea winds. There was only Concrete slabs at each floor level and vertical RCC Columns at 15 ft spacing. We used Pultruded I-sections as vertical intermediate columns and Box sections as horizontal support members. The GRP corrugated sheets were fixed to these structural frameworks by SS J hooks.
The company is very happy with this corrosion free wall.

Dimensions:
Building covered Height: 60 Ft; Length: 120 ft width 40 ft.

Product: Main Gate for houses

Ercon Composites
Mukesh Maheshwari

ERCON COMPOSITES has developed complete Main Gates, Boundary wall Railing, for houses from PULTRUDED GRP PROFILES. These gates have very good aesthetics and are lightweight and economical. As compared to Iron gates these are 30% by weight. ERCON had developed this gate for its CEO and has got orders from many customers.

Dimension: 7ft x5 ft x2nos and 3ft-x5 ft—1no Boundary wall Railing 35-ft x2ft
